BRITISH ENGINEERING… The Battle of Britain of 1940 had been bravely won but it had taken its toll. The RAF’s heroic pilots were exhausted and Britain’s historic cities had suffered heavily from the continuous Nazi bombing missions. By 1942 the time had finally arrived to take the fight to Germany. What was needed? A tough warbird that could carry hefty munitions; reliably travel the cross-channel distance; out-manoeuvre flak and shake off the occasional hit; but most of all it needed to be made of British ingenuity and grit.

The FS-2 Flying Scotsman commemorates 100 years of

The FS-2 Flying Scotsman commemorates 100 years of this iconic locomotive. This beautiful timepiece is made with Flying Scotsman metal a project that was only made possible with our collaboration through the National Railway Museum part of the Science Museum Group who approached us last year.

Flying Scotsman is the most famous steam locomotive in the world and the first to haul the regular scheduled, non-stop service from Kings Cross London to Edinburgh and also the first to achieve an authenticated 100mph. A legendary symbol of design and engineering it’s a locomotive that evokes nostalgia for the romance of a bygone era of steam travel.

The FS-2 pays tribute to this through our 41mm watch case design that follows the successful house style of our 44mm range.

Q-Branch, the R&D wing of Zero West Watches, has been at it again! Tinkering with light and magic to create this cool ‘Lume Box’.

Made from laser-cut plywood and sprayed in midnight black, this great display cube incorporates a removable back, allowing easy access to change over watch models. But the real magic happens with a flick of a switch.

The ultraviolet ring light around the viewing porthole charges the X1 Super-LumiNova used on our dials and hands to give the brightest glow in low light conditions. It’s one of the many design attributes our timepieces feature, and now we will be able to demonstrate this glow through this custom ‘Lume Box’ when customers visit... It’s just one of the many creative Q-Branch projects we’ve been working on.

Designed by Sydney Camm, the Hurricane’s robust construction and straightforward design made it a reliable and resilient aircraft, easily repairable even in the heat of battle. Its powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and heavy armament made it a formidable foe, crucial in defending Britain’s skies.

From the deserts of North Africa to the jungles of Burma, the Hurricane proved its versatility and durability, much like our commitment to creating resilient and reliable timepieces. With keen bike enthusiasts of the post-war 1950s emulating their racing heroes, the TT street racing subculture spilled onto British streets.
